Enduro Ratnange is organised annually in the foothills of Mount Everest, which stands as a silent but formidable sentinel for the longest and most challenging enduro mountain bike race in Nepal, offering a breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas. As the event has evolved since its inception in 2022, the 2025 edition promises not just a race but an unforgettable odyssey.

In March 2024, the event began to gain significant traction, drawing the attention of the global mountain biking community. The reason behind this was that the second edition of ER was blessed by participants who are world stage podium winners, such as Hugo Pugion, Rémy Absalon, Emeric Lenzer from France, along with top Nepalese athletes and national champions.
Moreover, the 2025 edition has taken it to new heights, literally and figuratively, by featuring an impressive lineup of world-class athletes, this year as well. Among them is Damien Otton, the Enduro World Series regular, joining with familiar names like Hugo Pigeon, Rémy Absalon, and the talented Andorran rider Ares Masip. Their presence transformed the event into a gathering of the sport’s elite, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on two wheels. This concept is to provide a stage where our local riders get an understanding of how the top-level athletes in the world stage performs, and be inspired by them.

The event is organized by the Phaplu Mountain Bike Club and managed by Zerolevel MTB School, held at Ratnange Trail Center, the first of its kind to have a mountain biking trail network, which is dedicated to promoting the sport in the region. The club has put together an impressive team of volunteers and sponsors to make the event a success. Participants can expect a well-organized race that adheres to strict safety standards.
The race is open to both amateur and professional riders, and there are several categories to choose from, including men's and women's divisions, as well as age-specific categories. Participants can expect to compete against some of the best riders in the world and have the opportunity to showcase their skills at the event.

Exploring the New Format at Ratnange Enduro 2025
This year, the Enduro Ratnange, unveiled a groundbreaking approach to mountain biking competition. Maintaining the conventional multi-stage format and sustaining the longest downhill sections of more than 25km concepts, the 2025 edition introduced a unique, innovative model inspired by Red Bull’s downtime racing. In a departure from the norm, the new format allowed riders to ascend the top of the trailhead as many times as they chose, tackling the downhill sections at their own pace. Each rider’s best time from their attempts was recorded, allowing for a personalized competitive experience. Over the course of the event, six distinct trails were revealed, each adding layers of excitement and challenge. No prior practice was allowed before the race day.

Traditionally, the event featured two days of practice followed by two days of racing, allowing riders to familiarize themselves with the trails. However, the 2025 format kept the race tracks under wraps until the official race days. This meant that participants could not practice on the actual race routes beforehand, adding an element of suspense and exclusivity to the competition.
This innovative approach not only heightened the thrill of the competition but also showcased the adaptability and spirit of the mountain biking community and its sportsmanship. The Enduro Ratnange 2025 thus set a new benchmark for adventure and innovation in the sport.
For participants, organisers, and volunteers alike, the event is more than a competition; it’s an immersion into the rugged beauty of Nepal and its community who live around. This event allows the local Sherpa community to get involved as volunteers and also provide accommodations and enjoy local traditional cuisines for the racers and spectators coming from various cities of Nepal and other parts of the world who come as international participants or visitors. The challenging terrain, with its steep descents and technical sections, becomes a canvas for these riders to demonstrate their skill and endurance. For spectators and fellow riders, it’s a chance to witness world-class biking in one of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on Earth.
As the sun sets behind the Himalayan peaks, on the peak of Mt. Numbur and Karyalung, the race closed with a podium ceremony honouring all the stakeholders for the successful event; Enduro Ratnange 2025 leaves a lasting impression—one of community, adventure, and the pure thrill of mountain biking; promising to be back next year with some more excitement.
